Vesak Festival 🪔





      Vesak🪔 is religious and cultural festival in Sri Lanka. It is celebrated on the day of the full moon in the month of may.

                            Vesak is one of the biggest days of the year and is celebrated by Buddhists all over the world. Buddhists commemorate the important events that took place in the life of Lord buddha 🙏 on this day.

 

                               Frist comes the birth of Siddhartha Gautham in Lumbini. The second event was Siddharta Gauthama's. Supreme attainment as the Buddha 🙏, the Enlightented one. The third event was Lord Buddha's parinibbana over 2500 year ago at Kusinagar.

                                Apart from Sri Lanka, many Asian countries including  India, Japan, Singapore celebrate vesak. Many religious activities are organized during this period in Sri Lanka such as Sil campaigns, Bodhi poojas, Dansalas, Vesak devotional song ( Bakthi gee ), Pandols ( Thoran ) and Lanterns.

                     Being a Sinhala Buddhist, my favorite day is this  Vesak poya day 🪔🙏♥️

               31/12/2022  is an unforgetable and important day in my life 🥰 because of my " Salangai pooja" 💃🏼.  It was held at Ponnambalawaneswara Kovil in Colombo.                    This was the frist Salangai pooja organized by Tikiribandara dance school. Sixteen children were involved that but I was the only boy there 😌. Our dear teacher who gave us guidance for this is Miss. Pavithra Buddhini, a dance expert. My University ♥️

 Hello friends, this is my 10th blog ,                        My university is the " University of the Visual and Performing Arts " 💃🏼♥️. It is located in Colombo 07. This was also the only university in Sri Lanka that had only aesthetic subjects. The university of  the Visual and Performing Arts dates back to 1893 when the Ceylon  technical college was established. Drawing and desing were among the frist courses taught there. The University of the Visual and Performing Arts was frist affiliated to the university of Kelaniya and became an independent university  in 2005.  The frist vice-chancellor was Mr. Sarath Amunugama.                                       This university consists of there faculties. Unforgettable Kataragama trip 🤩

  Once a year we go to Kataragama from the Dancing class. It was a three day excursion. Many students of the class participate this 🫂. So this trip is very fun🤪. We finally went on this trip in 2018 ☹️ because of the Corona epidemic 🦠.                                 On the frist day, we leave the home early in the morning 🌥 and go to the accommodation. During that time we sing 🎤and dance💃🏼 and are very happy 😊. After that, on the frist night , we danced and played drums in front of the Kataragama temple.                                 That is the vow we have made and the reason why we go to Kataragama once a year.
